Robert Lee Thompson, II & Joan Lee (Overman) Thompson

Joan passed on November 3, 2025, and Robert followed on November 9, 2025. Their passing marks the conclusion of a profound love story that spanned more than six decades, leaving a legacy defined by family, entrepreneurship, and vibrant living.

Robert and Joan were inseparable, known as the "life of the party" a duo whose energy, kindness, and humor were infectious to all who knew them. They were accomplished business owners and devoted travelers who cherished exploring the world together.

Joan's Accomplishments and Passions

Born on July 28, 1941, Joan initially channeled her artistic gifts by working as an artist for Hallmark Cards. Driven by her intellect and ambition, she later attended Law School at the University of Kansas, eventually becoming an attorney for their family-owned venture, Wiston Properties.

Beyond her professional life, Joan maintained a deep love for the arts, enjoying drawing and painting. She found joy in nature through gardening and embraced adventure on trail rides with the Saddle and Sirloin.

Robert's Entrepreneurial Spirit

Born on November 4, 1940, Robert was a quintessential entrepreneur. He successfully launched and grew many companies throughout his career, which culminated in the founding and management of Wiston Property Management. Robert's strategic mind and commitment to building his business shaped their family's success.

Family Legacy

More than their professional achievements, Joan and Robert were deeply devoted parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Their greatest source of pride was their family.

They are survived by their sons, Brett Thompson (Meaghan) and Branden Thompson; four beloved grandchildren, David, Jake, and Charlie Thompson, and Chelsea Tarantino; and their treasured great-granddaughter, Isabella Tarantino.

They were preceded in death by their parents and two sons, Robert L. Thompson III (“Beau”) and William (“Bill”) Thompson, who are now reunited with them.
