Robert C. Nederman, of Overland Park, KS, passed away December 1, 2012. He is survived by wife Crystal, son Rob, and brother Jeff. A Seaman in the Navy, Bob served aboard the U.S.S. Markab and was a Vietnam Era veteran. Bob owned and operated a successful tax service business for many years, and was an NATP member. Bob was an avid astronomer and past president of the Astronomical Society of KC. Among his accomplishments are numerous awards and certificates from both the ASKC and the Astronomical League. His proudest achievement was contributing to the completion of the Powell Observatory in Louisburg, KS (Bob’s second home). Bob was also a car “buff” and loved his ’65 Thunderbird, which won numerous awards. He was a member of the Vintage Thunderbird Club of America. Bob volunteered with many community organizations too numerous to mention. As an avid astronomer, Bob would say that he’s moved into the COSMOS himself. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be Sunday, December 9th, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name to the American Cancer Society or Wounded Warrior Project will be appreciated.
