

Bob was born in Kansas City, KS on February 1, 1947. He graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School. He earned a BA in History and MA in European History from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, and studied two years toward his PhD in European History at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He earned his Juris Doctor at University of Missouri-Kansas City, in 1975.
Bob was married to his soul mate and best friend, Diane Patrick (Sawyer) on February 7, 1970. They were married for 45 years.
Bob devoted his career to improving the environment by working at the United States Environmental Protection Agency for 37 years, retiring as Senior Attorney and Regional Judicial Officer. He was a “lawyer’s lawyer;” an expert in the Clean Air Act with a passion for improving the environment and a beloved mentor to many at EPA. He was a gentle and caring spirit, with keen intellect, integrity, and interest in helping others. He enjoyed wildlife photography, K-State “Wildcat” football, national and international travel, gourmet cooking, hard rock, and walks in Loose Park with his beloved dog, Sachi.
Bob is survived by his wife, Diane; three brothers and their spouses, Fred E. Patrick, III (Jane) of Topeka, KS, James Eisenbrandt (Lou) of Overland Park, KS, and David Eisenbrandt (Carolyn) of Parker, CO; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Doug Eisenbrandt (Melissa), Laura Eisenbrandt, Luke Patrick (Christi), Josh Patrick (Jennifer), Elise Patrick (Aaron Sumner), Jennifer Christensen (Matt) and Matt Eisenbrandt (Genevieve Hillsburg); nine great nieces and nephews, and an extended family of cousins, friends and colleagues.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Fred E. Patrick, Jr., mother, Fae E. Eisenbrandt, and stepfather, Dr. Leslie L. Eisenbrandt.
A Celebration of Life service will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, at the Diastole Scholars’ Center, 2501 Holmes Street, Kansas City, MO 64108. In lieu of flowers, tax deductible memorial contributions may be made to the Robert L.
