

Dr. Robert J. Rhodes, 85, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 with his family by his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1pm Saturday, November 30th at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS. Visitation will begin at noon prior to mass. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery on Monday, December 2nd at 10am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation, Inc. 10301 McKinstry Mill Road, New Windsor, MD 21776-7903 or to Cure of Ars Catholic Church.
Robert was born on November 11, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to Donald and Dorothy (Prentice) Rhodes. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps when he was 17 years old. He was proud to serve our country in World War II and the Korean War. He was a survivor of the Chosin Reservoir. Robert received a Doctorate in Psychology and worked as a Clinical Psychologist. He was on the staff of three medical schools (University of Washington, UCLA, and KU Medical Center). He enjoyed both the academic and clinical work he performed.
Robert married Peggy Rhodes in 1958 and they were married for 55 wonderful years. He was very active in Cure of Ars Church , the Knights of Columbus, and various Marine Corps Organizations. His favorite past time was watching movies. He especially enjoyed his military movie nights with his good friend Mike Maurer and the many themed movie nights with the Rohach Family.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Rhodes, sons Dr. Robert Rhodes, Chris (Beth) Rhodes, and daughter Betsy (Dewayne) Repine; grandchildren Emmett, Jayden, Hannah, and Ashley.
