Robert Leroy Scammahorn

Robert LeRoy Scammahorn, 89, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on April 30 at Kansas City Hospice House due to a chronic medical condition.

Robert graduated from Smith Cotton High School, Sedelia, Missouri. After graduation he entered the Air Force where he served 4 years during the Korean War. He was stationed in Las Vegas, Nevada where he drove fueling trucks. After his discharge he met and married Shirley Richarson, there were married 66 years. He was a Commercial Truck Driver for over 30 years before he retired. He loved to tinker with small engines and cars, he also enjoyed woodworking, putting together model cars and planes, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughters Debhra (Debby) Catalano, Cathryn (Cathy) Brock, Grandchildren, Tracy Wright (Patrick, spouse), Scott Stitt, Leslie Schirmer, Greg Stitt (Kelly, Spouse), Steven Stitt (Sara Beck, partner), Michael Schirmer (Jessie, spouse), Bobby Crews and Cody Crews, Kayla Jo Brock-Evelhoch. Great Grandchildren, Jacob Wright, Justin Wright, Edward Ramsey III, Kyleigh Stitt, Addy Schirmer, Marli Schirmer, Makenzie Schirmer, Jameson Stitt and Harper Crews, Janell Caswell, Tyler Caswell, Jax Larios, Quinn Evelhoch, along with numerous friends of the grandchildren that called him Grandpa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Arthur and Alice Edna Scammahorn. Siblings, Leo, James, Marvin Eugene, Viola Marie (Clark), Beatrice (Mullins) and Charles. Great Grandchild, Lainey Schirmer.

Robert did not want a formal service, to honor his wishes the family will have a celebration of life at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in his honor, if you wish.

Robert was a good man. He was one of the last of the Scammahorn last names on this line. I think it end with me after him. Robert was a Mason. I hope to do him proud. Dad ( Bud), Marvin Eugene was my Grandfather, had a lot of respect for Robert amd Shirley. Worthy of honor.

My condolences to Shirley and the family! Im grandpa Bobs neighbor across the street from him and Shirley! Bob was a great person. My street does not feel the same with him gone!😥I use to love to hear him & Shirley stories of how they met and her ( Shirley correcting him)!🤣He was always there for me, I always felt safe knowing he was watching over me!😊 Any one of my family or friends that met Bob loved him immediately. Yr presence is truly missed and piece of my heart♥️ is broken! I miss & love you grandpa! R.I.P♥️🤣😭😭😭😭😭
