Bob was born in St Joseph, MO to Max and Iona Simmons on January 11, 1938. He attended school in the Kansas City area. He worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company from 1962-1993. He started on the bottling line and worked his way to the Building Maintenance Department and was in that position until retirement.
In Bob’s younger days he enjoyed golf, was a better than average bowler and could float around the rink on roller skates. The story goes that he could skate before he could walk. Bob had a passion for working with leather. And if there was a dance floor, he was on it until closing time. Anyone that truly knew Bob, knows that he would give you the shirt right off his back as easily as a tissue from his pocket.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Max; mother Iona; stepmother Christine; sister Kay; and nephew Keith.
He leaves behind his brother Ron (Georgia) Simmons of Independence, brother-in-law Ron (Kay) Bragaw of Kansas City. Nieces & Nephews- Kenny (Ruth) Bragaw, Kim (Dwayne) Parker, Ryan (Jen) Simmons. Great nieces & nephews- Randy (Theresa), Jonna (Mike), Karly (Beau), Emily (Keenan), Cherish, Michael, Nathan, Makayla, Quinn, Rob and Harper.
The family of Robert Simmons wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone on his care team at Crossroads Hospice.
