

Robert "Woody" Riley Woods, a kind-hearted, faithful, and compassionate man, passed away on November 19, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on September 10, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, Woody was known for his honesty, gentleness, and loyalty, qualities that endeared him to many throughout his life.
Woody attended Grandview High School, graduating with the Class of 1974. During his high school years, he was actively involved in sports, playing baseball and earning the title of Sweetheart King. His passion for baseball earned him a scholarship to Warrensburg College, where he continued to excel in the sport.
After a stint as a softball player, Woody began his professional career with Hallmark Cards in the manufacturing department. He later moved on to GMAC, where he worked his way up to the position of Finance Manager. His final career was with Campbell-Woods Painting, where he left a lasting impact.
Woody met his beloved wife, Kim Miller, and together they raised two daughters, Rachel Payne (Tim) and Jamie Woods. He cherished his family deeply and took great pride in spending quality time with his grandson Tyler, teaching him the intricacies of baseball—a sport Woody was passionate about and shared through coaching girls' softball teams.
In addition to his love for baseball, Woody had a fondness for motorcycles and Corvettes. He was a dedicated caretaker, especially to his mother in her later years, demonstrating his compassionate and gentle nature.
Woody's life was profoundly impacted by Dr. Neal Erickson MD, who saved his life three times after he was paralyzed and stood by his side for thirty years. Woody's gratitude for Dr. Erickson's unwavering support was immense.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys Woods, his sister Ella Mae Mullinix, and his brother-in-law Lee Mullinix. Woody is survived by his daughters, Rachel Payne (Tim) and Jamie Woods; his brothers, William A. Woods (Pam), Larry Woods (Karen), and James Lee Woods (Barbara); his sisters, Penny Campbell (Bill) and Neelda Barnes (Jim); as well as his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Woody's legacy as a mentor and a loyal friend will be cherished by all who knew him. His gentle spirit and honest nature have left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
