The angels rejoiced at receiving the gentle soul of Roberta M. Shrewsbury on December 20, 2021. Roberta joins her husband, George Shrewsbury and her daughter, Regina Nibbelink in the loving arms of our heavenly Father.
Roberta was born in Kansas City, Missouri and in 1939 she graduated from Paseo High School. She fell in love with and married George in 1947. She moved with her husband and children to several states to promote her husband’s career in electrical manufacturing. Those that knew Roberta knew a kind and gentle soul. She loved her Catholic faith, her family, and the flowers and birds of the earth deeply. She was a member of the Ladies of Charity and a volunteer at Seton Center.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Martin and Phila Gierster; her brother, Richard Gierster; her husband, George; and her daughter, Regina Nibbelink. She is survived by her son, Steve Shrewsbury (Nina); her daughter, Denise Hutchison (Byron); her daughter, Nancy Spangler (Matt); and her son-in-law, Larry Nibbelink (Judy); 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Parish, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131 at 10:00AM Wednesday, December 29, 2021. The rosary will be prayed at 10:30AM and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests gifts to Seton Center, 2816 E. 23rd St., Kansas City, MO 64127.
