
Robin "Bob" Ellis Walker, 94, passed away peacefully March 25, 2013, at his home in Prairie Village, Kan. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at First Lutheran Church, 6400 State Line. Robin was born on Oct. 21, 1918, in Kansas City, Mo., to Robin Adair Walker and Carolyn Richards Walker. He married Ramona Cedarholm almost 70 years ago on August 15, 1943. Together they raised four children. He is survived by Ramona and his children, Carol Walker Dobbs (Greg), Christine Walker (Dennis Hysom), Robin Walker-Lee (Rick Lee), Lloyd Walker (Liz), and grandchildren, Anna Lee Versaci (Mike), Jason Walker Dobbs (Jill), Alexander Adair Dobbs, Marshall Walker Lee, Quinn Walker Hysom, Olympia Christine Walker, great-grandson, Samuel Ellis Versaci, his brother, Mort Walker (Cathy) of Stamford, Conn., his sister, Marilou White of Haleiwa, Hawaii, and his many nieces and nephews. Robin graduated from Northeast High School and received a B.S. in Business and Public Administration from the University of Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1946, including 14 months in the Aleutians, achieving the rank of Major. He was Sales Manager for Carter Waters Corp., for over 20 years, Vice President of Bennett Construction, and Director of Marketing for Massman Co. before he retired. He served as President of the Builders Association of Kansas City. Active in the community, Robin was President of the Trinity Lutheran Hospital board and served on the board for 20 years. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church for many years, serving on the church council, the property committee, and the finance committee. He took special pride in his role building the new church. He has been a member and officer of Milburn Country Club, Homestead Country Club, Mercury Club, Vanguard Club, Town and Country Homes Assn., and a member of the Prairie Village Planning Commission. Robin loved being outdoors, whether on his patio, a tennis court, a golf course, the Ozarks, the Bahamas, Lake Michigan, or anywhere else. He made friends everywhere he went, all over the world. A people person, he never met a stranger. A devoted family man, Robin was dearly loved by his family, and he cherished them.
