Rodney Thomas Hill

Rodney Thomas Hill, 56, years old, passed away at his home in Peculiar, Missouri, on December 16, 2016. He was born February 27, 1960, in Kansas City, Kansas, to the late Samuel Claude Hill Sr. and Annie Louise Ross Hill.

Rodney attended Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri. After high school, he followed in the footsteps of his elder brother Samuel Claude Hill, Jr. serving in the United States Marine Corps. Rodney found a career in construction most recently working for Realm Construction Inc. However, Rodney’s passion for life was the outdoors. He often spent his free time bird hunting, fishing, and caring for a stable of horses and dogs over the years.

Rodney is preceded in death by his father, mother, older brother Samuel C. Hill Jr., and youngest sister Audrey Lynn Hill. His memory lives on through a host of family and friends including his two sons, Cameron Thomas Herman and Kaleb Thomas Hill; his siblings Donald K. Hill/Terri (Lee’s Summit, Missouri), Rose M. Hill (Simpsonville, South Carolina), Anthony C. Hill (Phoenix, Arizona) and Taleah W. Hill, wife of Samuel C. Hill Jr.; nieces and nephews Andrew L. Washington, Taylor and Tyeler Hill, Samuel Joseph Hill, Tyler Hill, and Donald Hill Jr. Lastly, he leaves behind his beloved dogs Thor, Lady and Shady, who are now in the care of Rodney’s dear friend Phyllis LaFontaine of Leavenworth, Kansas.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. followed by memorial service at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Swope Parkway United Christian Church, 6140 Swope Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri 64130.
