Roger B. Patton

Roger B. Patton, 94, of Kansas City, MO, passed away March 17, 2022. He was born on May 28, 1927 in Des Moines, IA. He served in the Army Air Corps in Germany after graduating from Central High School in Kansas City. Roger married the love of his life, Blanche Johnson, in 1951. They were longtime members of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Roger retired from The Kansas City Star, where he worked for 30 years. Roger and Blanche retired to the La Plata mountains near Durango, CO before returning to the Kansas City area.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Stickler (Wayne), Louisburg, KS; son, Dale Patton (Lois), Lincoln, NE; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many friends at Little Sisters of the Poor in Kansas City. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Blanche; mother Elizabeth Conner; son John Martin Patton; brother Frank Conner.

Services will be held on Friday, March 25 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. The visitation will be at 9:00, followed by the funeral service at 10:00.

Roger’s family would like to thank everyone at Little Sisters of the Poor for their love and care of Roger and Blanche for the past eight years; Catholic Community Hospice for taking care of Roger during his last days; and the Bar D Wranglers in Durango, Colorado for the wonderful memories they gave mom and dad.

A kind and gentle father and grandfather, Roger will be remembered as a caring man, always wearing a smile and ready to lend a helping hand.

A visitation for Roger will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A funeral service will occur Friday, March 25, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A graveside service will occur Friday, March 25, 2022 from 11:15 AM to 11:45 AM at Floral Hill Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
