Ronald Gene Ferguson passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2018 at the age of 69. Ronald was a life-long adventurer whose quick wit and jokes were unparalleled. So, too, was his laugh. Ronald loved the outdoors and could always be found with sunglasses near a body of water - oceans, rivers, and lakes. His smarts and unrelenting work ethic helped build many companies in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City. Ronald was born in St. Louis on April 20, 1949 to Gene and Edyth Ferguson. Ron earned his B.S in Business and MBA from the University of Kansas. Ronald is survived by his wife, Chae; two sons Matt and Scott Ferguson; two step children Katie and Bobby McCue; sister Judy McCann; three grandchildren Annabelle, Greyson, and Finley; two nephews Chris and Justin Wilkes, and niece Kim Vicente. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 6th at McGilley State Line Chapel between 5:00pm and 8:00pm and a memorial service is scheduled for Friday, December 7th at Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel in Leawood at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Midwest Transplant Network (www.mwtn.org).

Ron was one of the greatest professional influences in my life. We worked night and day with a larger team to build a highly successful technology businesses in Kansas City. An incredible travel companion full of teaching...leader and thinker. I’m quite sad to lose Ron. I wish your family peace...very few people influenced and impressed me like Ron. I truly miss him. //doug

Ron was a high school friend and college room mate. Along with other close friends we spent much time together floating/kayaking many beautiful rivers in Missouri and Arkansas. Quick wit, incredibly smart, warm and wonderful are descriptions of this dear man that immediately come to mind. He is gone too soon but we are all so blessed to have had Ferg in our lives!

From our early days on Ferncliff, to catching up with Ron, Chae and Judy in Naples, the Ferguson family have been an integral part of the Helmke family. We loved him dearly! His smile and fun-loving way will be missed by all!

Ron and I were cousins. I have so many memories of their home on 2270 Ferncliff Lane. Summers were the best...The Muny, Cardinal baseball games, and kick-the-can with neighborhood kids. Trip to D.C., NYC , and Cape Cod was a trip of a lifetime.
When we were grown Ron, Lisa and Little one showed up at Humana Hospital to visit my son and I. Do remember they had their second due very soon.
Greatest of memories of this family. Love and hugs your way.❣️❣️

Ron lived across the street from my friend Mike Helmke growing up in Kirkwood and he was always kind, gracious and ready with a quick quip whenever we saw him. Ron had a lot going for him and I'm glad his life was prosperous.
