

Roy, birthdate July 5, 1939, was the only child born to the union of Thecile Curn and Mary Ellen Boykins in McAlester, Oklahoma, who both preceded him in death.
When he was 4 years old Roy’s family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he attended Crispus Attucks Elementary School, Manual Junior High School, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Economics and graduated from Rockhurst College in May 1981.
Roy served as a Medical Service Specialist in the Air Force Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in December of 1968. He worked for the U. S. Postal Service as a Railway Mail Clerk on the Katy train line which ran from Kansas City, Missouri to Denison, Texas. He next worked for General Motors and Bendix before going to work for Ford Motor Company in 1970 as a After Market Account Manager until he retired after 30 years of service. He also later retired from the Internal Revenue Service with 10 years of combined IRS service time with his U. S. Postal Service service time. Roy also worked as tax preparer for family and friends for about 50 years.
On March 23, 1963, Roy married Amy Maurine Boyd. They were married 28 years until she passed away on April 1, 1991. To their union were two daughters, Ceola Boykins and Donetta Holland.
Roy married Sandra (Clark) Williams on February 15, 1997, and gained a stepson, Patrick Williams. Sandra’s job relocated the family from Kansas City, Missouri, to St. Charles, Missouri, to Naperville, Illinois, and back to Kansas City, Missouri.
Roy attended Providence Baptist Church as a youngster and later joined Paseo Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Doctor Charles Briscoe. During the early 90’s he joined St. James United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Emanuel Cleaver II. Throughout the years he also visited St. Stephen Baptist Church where his late wife and daughters attend.
Roy was preceded in death by paternal grandmother Ceola Boykin, paternal grandfather-James “Jim” Boykin, and grandmother Willie Boykin, maternal grandparents Arthur and Hannah Jones, uncles George V. Boykins, Lafayette Boykin, Jay Boykin, Ernest “Jack” Gathron, Sr., Ira Joe Boykin, Theodore Jones, David Jones, George Jones, Willie Jones, and his aunts- Pearl McKay, Virgie Jones, Alberta Tate, Olivette ”Ollie” Rowell, Rebecca Thomas and Lillian Evelyn Boykins, father and mother-in-law- Frank and Amy Elizabeth Boyd, father and mother-in-law Reverend Lilbon and Piccola Clark, Jr., his sisters-in-law Helen Mabin and Piccola Yvonne (Clark) Davis, a niece-Delores J Clayton, and his great grandson-Cameron Lewis, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sandra of the home, daughters Ceola Boykins and Donetta Holland of Kansas City, Missouri; stepson Patrick (Alisha) Williams of Independence, Missouri; brothers-in-law Lilbon (Fran) Clark, III, of Willmar, Minnesota, and Reverend Laurence (Linda) Clark of Kansas City, Missouri; grandsons Leslie O’Dell Lewis, Jr., Cameron Lewis, Donel Hobley, and KeiShaun Holland of Kansas City, Missouri; great-grandchildren Amera, Jayden, and Lil Leslie of Kansas City, Missouri; aunt Coletta (Robert) Meachem of Fort Worth, Texas; uncle James Brown of Los Angeles, California; nieces Senora (Leonard) Kelly of Kansas City, Missouri, Erica Davis of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rochelle (Bryce) Brown of Kansas City, Missouri, Aretha (Demetrius) Turner of Dallas, Texas, Arlisa Osborn, Arkenya Osborn, Arlaysha Osborn all of Kansas City, Missouri, and Arlynda Osborn of Dallas, Texas; nephews Cecil C. (Willa) Clayton Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, Lilbon H.
