Ruth Ann Deister, 74, of Smithville, MO. died Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Banner Desert Medical Center, Mesa, AZ.
Ruth Ann was born on May 8, 1942 in Kansas City, MO. to Francis and Elizabeth (Goddard) Jenkins. She married Charles E. Deister of Parkville, MO. on May 4, 1963. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include two sons; Matthew Deister and Maria of Kansas City, MO; Charles “Toby” Deister and Christine of Gladstone, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Craig Gastineau of Smithville, MO; 10 grandchildren; Fr. Charles Deister, Kassandra Deister, James Deister, Monica Deister, Steven Deister, Emily Deister, Sophie Deister, Evan Gastineau, Claire Gastineau and Alice Gastineau.
In addition to her parents, Ruth Ann was preceded in death by one brother; William Jenkins, and one sister; Nancy Jenkins.
Ruth Ann was a graduate of St. Pius X High School, Kansas City, MO, and attended Mount St. Scholastica Women’s College, Atchison, KS. She was primarily a homemaker while raising her family. She was an avid crafter and florist working out of the home. She enjoyed making seasonal crafts and gifts for family and friends, and also sold her craft and flower arrangements at various local craft shows. Later in life, she also taught kindergarten with the Franciscan Sisters at St. Vincent de Paul Academy, Kansas City, MO from 2000 to 2007.
Above all, Ruth Ann was a devout Roman Catholic, Servant of our Lord, and Soldier for Christ. She faithfully attended the Latin/Tridentine Roman Catholic Mass offered at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Kansas City, MO. she was a Third Order member of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X, of which her oldest grandson Fr. Charles Deister was ordained to the Catholic Priesthood in 2014, at St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, Winona, MN.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, 3106 Flora Ave., Kansas City, MO. 64109.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 9:00AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 3104 Flora Ave, Kansas City, MO. Visitation and the Most Holy Rosary will be Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 6:30 to 7:30PM, at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery in Kansas City, MO (North).
