Sal was born on December 10, 1949 in Kansas City, KS to Joseph and Socorro Rodriguez. He attended Westport High School. He worked as a general manager for Red Lobster for 18 years. He also worked for the Kansas City Star for 18 years, getting promoted to District Manager in Circulation. His children remember him as a driven father who worked hard and sacrificed time and energy to give them broader opportunities than he had as a youth.
Sal was an exceptional leader, personally and professionally, who constantly demonstrated a fun loving, caring personality for all coworkers. He was a generous, thoughtful and self-sacrificing individual who loved God, his family, baseball and popcorn and who was passionate about cooking for those he loved. Sixty five years was not enough time to have with this amazing soul. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him. We will miss his birthday dinners, his cooking lessons, his skill for catching you with a rubber band, the eyebrows that spoke a thousand words, the love that he had for his family, I could go on…..on a side note, he did pick the Royals to win the World Series. I have no doubt he’ll be watching. Till we meet again, Dad; we love you. We thank you for everything you taught us and shared with us and all the sacrifice you made in your life, for us!
