At the age of 80 years old, Sharon Ruth Foster passed on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Hospice House in Olathe at 3:45 P.M. She lost her fight to Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a bone marrow cancer after enduring many treatments at the University of Kansas Health Systems.
Sharon R. Foster lived a full and busy life. Whether she was cooking, baking, or hosting she has some unforgettable recipes that will be continued to be made for the generations to come. Sharon also enjoyed traveling and playing cards with family and friends. She went on many cruises enjoying the sights and the Pina Coladas. Marking many things off her bucket list, she has visited 49 of the 50 states. Sharon also enjoyed getting away to her lake house at the Lake of the Ozarks at Dogwood Point. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch, watching the firework displays over the 4th of July weekend, and catching fish off the dock. During her leisure hours she could be found watching Hallmark movies, QVC, and Kansas City Sports. Her personality was carried through conversations and relationships that she made on her adventures.
Sharon R. Foster was a successful businesswoman owning her own pizza restaurant and prior to her retirement she worked for Fleming as a Secretary. While working at Fleming she took satisfaction for being a fast typer. Sharon also enjoyed volunteering her time to bake for Classic Crowd or even fundraisers for the family.
Sharon R. Foster was born in Kansas City, Missouri and was the daughter of William “Woody” and Elsie Woodward. She will be joining those who passed before her, her parents (Woody and Elsie), her two daughters (Kimberly Jean Foster and Teresa Marie VanDeVyvere), and other loved ones. She survived through her son Jason Foster, Granddaughter Danielle Marie VanDeVyvere and her father Michael, with her multitude of cousins.
Due to Covid restrictions services will be held privately by invitation only in the funeral home. Committal Prayers at the Graveside will be open to the public Saturday April 10, 2021 at 2:45 PM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, MO. 64133
