She was born June 21, 1943, in Creighton, Missouri, and grew up in Belton, Missouri. She graduated from Belton High School in 1961. After high school, she was studying to be a secretary when she met Lynn Hershey. They wed September 15, 1962, and were married for 61 years. She worked as a homemaker.
Sharon was a member and regular attender of First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and was active in the Women’s Missionary Union there. In her younger years, she was involved in the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, quilting, needlework, ceramics, and travel. She collected stamps and coins.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Wray and Zora Miller.
She is survived by husband Lynn Hershey of Kansas City; daughters Crystal Hershey of Kansas City and Marlene Hershey Darnell (Tony) of Independence, Missouri; son John Hershey of Kansas City; grandson Logan Darnell of Independence; granddaughter Elizabeth Darnell of Independence; and brother Jim Miller (Shirley) of Peculiar, Missouri.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery.
