Sharon was born on November 24, 1940 to Leona (Dunn) and Harry Bergman in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Westport High School. She then attended and graduated from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois.
In 1964 Sharon married Charles E. Jenkins, Sr and raised three children, Charles, Jr., Julie, and Stephen. Her second marriage was to Chuck Scott and she helped raise his son, Bryan. Sharon and Chuck enjoyed traveling all over the world and she would happily retell stories from France or China among other places.
After her children were grown, she put her business degree to work. After a relatively brief time in the life insurance business she moved into retirement and investment planning. She was a brilliant mind as an Investment Broker with Merrell Lynch and later Morgan Stanley. Sharon was goal oriented and highly motivated from a young age. She held high levels of expectations from herself and generally everyone around her.
Sharon had a love for her pets. Even into her later life she cherished a little cat and dog.
Sharon was an incredibly strong person. She was competitive and did not take defeat easily or often. There were and are some fantastic lessons there for those she mentored or influenced.
Sharon had grieved the loss of her parents and husbands, son Stephen, and granddaughter Samantha Coen. She leaves her sons, Chuck (Carrie) Jenkins, Jr and Bryan (Jenn) Scott and daughter Julie Jenkins (Ray) Coen, She also leaves grandchildren: Douglas (Monica) Jenkins, Gwendolyn (Nathan) Reece, William Jenkins, Kimberly Epperson, Christene Coen, Michael (Jessica) Coen, Jackson Jenkins, Ara Scott, Harrison Moore, Laila Hassan-Meyer, Faisal (Yawen) Hassan, Jordan Hassan, Jahan (Jason) Clark and large loved number of great-grandchildren as well.
Friends and family may gather from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer, and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020. Graveside Services will be at the same location on Wednesday, August 5th, 2020 at 10:00am.
Sharon was very outspoken about animal welfare and suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease.
