Shelly Brotherton

Shellane Marie "Shelly" Brotherton, 31 years old, Pleasant Hill, MO., quietly departed this life at home on Tuesday, July 29th, 2014. Born on September 8th, 1982 she entered this life and began a difficult journey enduring open heart surgery at 11 months old. From that point on her heart led her on a life that was filled with joy, laughter and unconditional love for her family and friends. She had an especially close bond in her early years with her cousins Mark and Collin, and they remained friends for life.

When she was 11 years old she received a birthday gift that was never lost or misplaced, her beloved "brudder", Jimmy. From that day forward, we knew she was destined to become a great mother. On June 12th, 2006, she gave birth to her legacy, her self proclaimed "mini me", Annette Makayla Brotherton. Shelly will live on through this sweet, funny, loving child that she left behind for us to cherish and mold.

Friends were a big part of her life. She was known for being the life of the party, with a big smile and a great sense of humor. Through facebook, she had reunited with friends as far back as elementary school and was planning a reunion, she never left a friend behind. She loved music and animals, especially dogs. She was always anxious to entertain to make us smile. Dog shows with the family pets were always a great source of entertainment with Shelly officiating. What she proclaimed as a dog show quickly became the "Shelly show".

She was preceded in death by her mother, Allyson Hogan; grandparents, Jim Brotherton and (step grandmother) Judy Brotherton, Barbara Trocosso Brotherton, Elmer Hogan, Judith Smith Hogan, step grandfather Drexell Bell; and her aunt, Sherri Brotherton Lofton. Survived by her daughter Annette Makayla Brotherton; father and mother, Dale and Carole Brotherton; brother, Jimmy Brotherton (fiance) Lindsay Fritts; great aunt, Mary Trocosso Tripp; uncle Rick Brotherton and Melinda Silvey; cousins, Mark Kincaid and Collin Beck. Her extended (step) family whom she loved as much as her blood relatives include; aunt Kathy Altis and cousins Joe, Jason and Sarah DuPont; aunt Patsy Altis and cousins Beau and Shannon Mitchell; grandmother, Carolyn Ford Bell; uncle Jerry Bell (Leona); aunt Cindy Bell Small and cousins Amanda Small Everett (Glendon), Eric Small, Sara Small and Scott Small (Paige); aunt Janet Bell and cousin Christine Riley, uncle David Bell and cousins Jamie Bell Cotter (Jordan) and Damion Dobbs.
