Sherri Denise Anderson, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, and mother departed from this world on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. She was born to Clarence and Shirley Smith on October 21, 1964, with whom she is now reunited with in the embrace of Heaven. Sherri is survived by her devoted husband Brian, son Jesse, and brother Ronald Smith.
Sherri was born in south Kanas City and graduated from Hickman High School in 1983 as class Valedictorian. Upon graduation with a degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City, she was hired by Kansas City Baptist Temple for the bookkeeping office in 1987, where she worked for the next 39 years. Attending Kansas City Baptist Temple/Graceway since birth, she came to embrace the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ in her teenage years. She adored and absorbed the Word of God from the moment of her salvation. Sherri's life was spent trying to live what the Bible teaches and letting God Almighty live His Life through her. She loved discipling people in God's love and His Word. Sherri invested herself in various short-term mission trips throughout the United States and abroad, teaching folks the ways of the Lord and His Word. Sherri loved putting puzzles together. She saw life as a big puzzle, where the Lord knew how every piece would eventually fit together.
In Romans 8:28, God's Word declares, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose." Sherri trusted these words with all her heart, especially during the final year of her life as she battled cancer. During this last chapter of her life, and through the fears and pain, God gloriously led each step with grace. He painted these steps with miracle after miracle, touching countless lives through Sherri's joy in her Savior. The final year was truly both the worst and best year of Sherri's life. An absolute picture of her Lord's workmanship, a genuine poem of God's love, and a victory over cancer that produced a spent heart of JOY. This earthy joy ran out on June 17, 2026. However, the eternal torch of this joy has now been passed to all those she loved and touched.
