
Shirley Anne Hudgins, 83, of Louisville, KY, and formerly of Lee's Summit, MO passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. Born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 23, 1931, Shirley was the third child of James and Grace (Heddleston) Clement. While attending the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg and earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Shirley met and married Donald Hudgins. Together, they raised three children and ran a very successful company, Ironmaster, Inc. Shirley had many hobbies including crochet, needlepoint, gardening and playing Bridge. Family was very important to Shirley. She enjoyed hosting family holiday meals and taking vacations with her kids and grandchildren. She was an art lover and was a friend of the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum. She was a great historian and loved traveling internationally with her beloved husband. Shirley loved shopping with her daughter Linda, cheering on her daughter Carol at various sport events, and rooting son Rex on at motocross races. Playing board games with her grandkids, and cooking big family meals were just a few of her favorite pastime activities. Her oatmeal raisin cookies will be missed most of all. She lived with passion, always had a joyful heart, kind to all she met, and a teacher of life. Shirley was preceded by her sister Betty Lee Clement, her parents, and her husband Don Hudgins. Survivors include her brother Leonard Clement of Warrensburg, MO, her three children, Linda McIntosh of Carthage, MO, Rex Hudgins of Lee's Summit, MO, and Carol Hudgins of Louisville, KY, her seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm at DW Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel. The funeral service will commence at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
