Shirley J. Steehn, age 86, passed away on March 30, 2016. Shirley was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Southeast High School, and attended the KC Jr. College. She was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co for 37 years and was a member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneers.
Shirley married Joseph Steehn in 1954. He preceded her in death in 2006. Shirley and Joe were members of the Indian Creek Racquet Club. She enjoyed cooking, playing bridge and spending time with her wonderful group of friends.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers Leroy and George Diehl. Shirley is survived by her brother Marvin Diehl of Humansville, MO, nieces Kerri Diehl of Raytown, Susan Morgan of Harrisonville, Karolyn Diehl of Belton and Janet Carter of Palm Springs, CA; nephew Scott Diehl of Jackson, WY; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Care Hospice, 2000 E. Mechanic St., Harrisonville, MO 64701 or a charity of your choice.
