

Shirley Dee Teefey, age 97, of Kansas City, Missouri, was called Home on Thursday, December 1, 2022. Shirley Dee was born on October 22, 1925 to Simon Elijah and Alice Lynn Bacher in Kansas City, Missouri. Shirley’s middle name of Dee was from her maternal aunt, Dee Dolittle.
Shirley attended Bryant Elementary School and graduated from Southwest High School in 1942. Following graduation she attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois and graduated in 1946 with a BA degree.
Shirley was active in her religious life. She served on the Altar Guild at St. Peter's Episcopal Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, in Kansas City, Missouri, as well as serving many offices, including President of the Women’s Guild and serving on the Guild’s holiday gala committee. She later joined the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas.
Shirley belonged to KC Young Matrons, La Sertoma and Kansas City Symphony Alliance where she loved volunteering with Symphony Designer’s Show House. Shirley was the last to leave a party, never met a stranger and loved to sew, do crafts and play Bridge.
Shirley is survived by her four children: son, John (Teresa) Teefey, son, Jeffery (Kathryn) Teefey, son, James Teefey (Dena Brown) and daughter Jana Teefey (David Schlossman), six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Shirley was a force of nature who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m.
