I saw that Shirley and her husband Walter were involved in the most unfortunate walkway collapse at the Hyatt. I wanted to say how very sorry I am to hear of Shirley's passing. 

Reflecting back many, many years as a classroom teacher of Shirley's daughter Beth. You all may not remember me; but I recall Shirley's involvement and leadership in the PTA of our school (mid to early 70's). I recall Beth as a good student with an enormous heart. Clearly she was a product of a caring and loving family.  I was surprised to hear (years after the Hyatt accident) that Shirley and her husband were at the event. I am certain that their faith sustained them throughout life.  I am fortunate to be in great health and just recently have moved from Leawood to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.  My condolences to each and every family member .  Sincerely; Russ Burkholder (I just now spotted the obituary)...but wanted you to know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Sweet and sad memories....my Dad ...George MacCurdy passed away Sept 3,2018. He used to tell stories about Shirley being a secretary during his early days at Bendix. Later they joined our church and I became one of the family babysitters. We would often hike down to the little park and creek on Lee Boulevard.
I remember visiting them after the tragic accident....and marvelling at their faith courage and persistence.  Being a PEO sister ...i will contribute to that fund. Prayers and peace for the days ahead dear family. 

What a wonderful  neighbor and friend and a great partner at the bridge table.  I am so grateful to have known her.  My prayers are with the entire family .
