Shirley Ann Wenzel

Shirley Ann Wenzel, age 86, of Kansas City, MO, left her loving family on September 2, 2017. Visitation services 6pm-9pm Thursday, September 7, 2017 at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home with rosary recited at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial 11am Friday, September 8, 2017 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10010 E. 40 HWY, Independence, MO. Burial at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO.

Shirley was born April 11, 1931 in Kansas City, MO to Thomas and Clytie Thompson. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1948. Shirley was married to her sweetheart, Joseph Wenzel, for 62 years. Shirley and Joe were members of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Independence and Our Lady of the Cove in Kimberling City, MO.

They called Table Rock Lake their home and enjoyed many sunsets together. Shirley was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved quilting, sewing, painting, gardening, doll-making, Sunday dinners, and dancing. She is now dancing with the angels.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe and daughter, Debra (Debbie) Sue Grady Tharp. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Jodie) Wenzel and Mark Wenzel; daughters, Denise (Glen)Tomlinson, Dayna (Bill) Gosnell and Diana (Joe) Carollo; grandchildren, Kimberly (Shem) Falter, Brandee (Tammy) Wenzel, Brianna (Dan) Schueller, Chris (Marci) Grady, Aaron Grady, Amy Grady, Katrina (Leonel) Vilchiz, Jennifer (Ben) Walsh, Lindy (Justin) Clark, Katie (Michael J.) Montoya, Tyler Gosnell, Julie Gosnell, Jamie (Kali) Carollo, Joey (Sara) Carollo, Nina (Kyle) Tallman, Sarah Carollo and Mark (Kate) Wenzel and 29 great grandchildren. She leaves her cherished sister Marcia (Jim) Glaze.
