Sister was the daughter of Joseph and Frances Olinger Petry. One of 12 children she is survived by one sister, Mary Ann Petry, of Gallup, New Mexico and nieces and nephews. Sister Benedict endeared herself to many as she tirelessly “begged” for over 25 years, for the needs of the mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor to the elderly poor of Greater Kansas City. Sister also gave of herself completely at the Homes of the Little Sisters in France, Nashville TN, Palatine IL, and St Louis MO.
Visitation will be from 3-7 pm on Wednesday, April 6, with the Rosary at 5:00 pm at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A. Reed Rd., KCMO. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 7, at 10:30 am. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In gratitude to Sister Benedict, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor.
