Stacey was a 1993 graduate from Bullitt East High School. She was a cheerleader her freshman through senior year at Bullitt East. She was cheerleading captain her senior year. In 1990-1991 and in 1992-1993, Stacey tried out for and made the Universal Cheerleading Associations All-Stars. When she made UCA All-Star, Stacey and other UCA All-Stars performed in the Lord Mayor of Westminster's New Year's Day Parade in London, England.
Stacey was a varsity cheerleader for Western Kentucky University men's football and basketball teams, for three seasons, serving two years as co-captain. During the 1997-1998 season, Stacey served as "Big Red" mascot for Western. She was also involved in Phi Mu sorority. Stacey always gave 110 percent.
Stacey always wanted Western to offer a cheerleading scholarship. She lobbied the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation, and even developed a committee to look into rewarding cheerleaders. Stacey did not live to see what she worked for pay off.
Soon after Stacey's death, Western Kentucky University established a scholarship fund for cheerleaders in her memory. This scholarship is a wonderful tribute to Stacey.
Stacey was survived by her parents; Randy and Judy Coy; a brother, Jason Coy of Mt. Washington; grandparents, Ernest Leslie and Jean Coy; aunts and uncles, Charlie and Peggy Graviss of Bowling Green, Darlene and Jeff Grimes, Jack and Jackie Graviss, and Billy and Beverly Saling of Louisville.
