Stelios "Steve" Parthenopoulos

As a young man, he worked in construction alongside his father before joining the army. After completing his service, Steve played professional soccer in Greece for two years. In 1959, he married Maria Giokas. The couple later moved to the United States in 1966, where they began building their life and family together.

Steve was a devoted husband and father to his son, Paul, and daughter, Sophia (Stacy) McCray. After arriving in the United States, he proudly became a U.S. citizen and trained as a skilled craftsman in the construction industry. During his career, Steve worked for J.E. Dunn Construction and contributed to several major projects in Kansas City, Missouri, including the construction of KCI Airport, Kauffman Stadium, Arrowhead Stadium, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum & Monarchs Memorial Stadium.

Steve was also a proud member of the Cement Masons Local 518 Union. In 1978, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and started his own business, Steve's Concrete and Stucco.

Through his hard work and dedication, Steve built a successful business and was able to purchase and manage several residential properties in the northeast Kansas City neighborhood.

Steve was preceded in death by his son, Paul, and his beloved wife, Maria. He is survived by his daughter, Sophia (Stacy) McCray, his granddaughters, Geneva Parthenopoulos of Kansas City, Missouri, Athena McCray of Burbank, California, Nichole McCray of Kansas City, Missouri, and Natasha Conner of Kansas City, Missouri, as well as many great-grandchildren and extended family members who will cherish his memory.

A visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Committal Service will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery South. A reception will follow in the funeral home from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Christian Church, Kansas City, Missouri.
