Stephen Lee Empson was born at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas on May 14, 1960, and passed away on April 26th, 2021 at his residence in Raytown, Missouri.

Steve grew up in Raytown and graduated from Raytown South High School in May of 1978. He received his Bachelor of Science from Central Missouri State University in August of 1982. After graduation, he worked several jobs as a computer support specialist. He had a passion for music and played with his friends in a band after high school. His greatest gift to this world was his son, Jeremy. He loved and cared for Jeremy during his early years, until he was unable due to health reasons.

He is survived by his brothers, Charles Empson, of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Kevin Empson, of Troy, IL. Special thanks to his friend and caretaker, Angela Walker-Moss, who has been a Godsend these past couple of years.

I only got to know Steve in the last couple years of his life, but I’m deeply grateful to have spent some time with him. He had a big heart and genuinely cared for others. In spite of the physical pain he was in, he remained patient and treated others with kindness. I always really admired that. Rest In Peace Steve. Hope you’re playing music somewhere right now.

I am very sorry for your loss of Stephen in this world. Words that come to mind when I think of Steven. Curiosity and enthusiasm as a little boy. Kindness when I met him as an adult. With love, Kathy Swenson - Stephen's cousin
