Steven “Steve” Arthur Sudduth, age 65 of Grandview, Missouri, passed away April 29, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza from complications caused by cancer, specifically Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma.
Steve (or Stevie for those who had the privilege) A. Sudduth was born November 18, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri at St. Luke’s on the Plaza.
He was a dedicated and loving Brother, Uncle, Father, Father-in-law, and “Boss” to many who knew him. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs through thick and thin, even during the lean seasons and hardships. He was an avid lover of all things WWII and could school most people with his knowledge and passion. He was proud to be the son of a WWII Vet, as little as he may have talked about it. He loved all things Harley Davidson motorcycles, Plymouth, and Mopar. He loved muscle cars and was a gear head. He went to Vo-tech to be a mechanic, which should come as no shock. This fed one of the joys in his life, which was working on cars, even if it became just his passionate hobby. He worked at Church and Dwight for almost 24 years, working his way up from forklift driver to case pick lead and finally a Distribution Coordinator. He was a dedicated Boss and had a profound love for the overnight shift that he absolutely refused to leave. Even in his last moments, he wanted nothing more than to get back to his job and crew and to be able to enjoy his home and family.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne and Elizabeth (Betty) Sudduth; sister, Debbie Cassidy; niece, Tami Tomblin; and nephew, Jason Stricker.
He is survived by his sister, Sandy Stricker; nephews, Tommy Tomblin and Kevin Stricker; daughter, Ashli Sudduth Bornaman; son-in-law, Ryan Bornaman; and extended family of his second-generation nieces, nephews, and beyond. Not to forget his favorite “monster” and granddog Nihilus, and his adopted “dog”, his daughter’s cat Tweek.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133. Funeral to be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Floral Hills Funeral Home. A graveside service will occur after the funeral at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, followed by a reception at Floral Hills.
