Sue Kyung Kim, of Lenexa, KS, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 after a protracted battle with stage 4 lung cancer. A Funeral Service will be held in her honor on Sunday, February 5, at 4:00pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road in Kansas City, MO.
Sue was born on January 17, 1960 in Jeong Eup, South Korea. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Ho Chan Kim, her son Joseph, her daughter Christine, along with husband, Russell Yu, and many extended family members.
She grew up in a large, loving family with seven sisters and three brothers. She immigrated to the United States in 1981 as a college student at the University of Missouri at Columbia. She then moved to Kansas City in 1988 to own and operate several businesses over the past 20 years.
As an avid golfer, she competed in and won several amateur golf competitions, including the US Korean American Sports Festival and the Korean Sports Festival in Seoul, South Korea.
Sue will be lovingly remembered as a very devoted Christian wife and mother, a dedicated and loving sister, and a very humble servant and friend to many.
