Susana L. Garcia, 93 of Kansas City, MO, joined the Lord and her family in Heaven on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at her home at Bishop Spencer Place. She was born on April 12, 1925 in San Gabriel, Mexico to Manuel and Virginia (Castaneda) Michel. She spent the first part of her life in Guadalajara where she attended school, worked and cared for her parents.

After marrying Chris, she moved to Kansas City, where they were both involved in their church and community. Susana was a member of Ladies American Legion Auxiliary Post 609 and Union Cultural Mexicana.

For many years Susana was a caregiver for children of family and friends, and shared her wisdom, creativity and loving nature with all, and came to be seen as a “second-mother” to many. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Chris, and 7 brothers & sisters. She is survived by daughter, Melissa “Lisa” and husband Albert Jordan; step-daughter, Cynthia and husband Jerry Souter; grandchildren, Victoria, Isabella and Melinda; great-grandchildren, Zach, Nick, Luke and Zoe; sister, Amalia; brother, Fernando; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted and awesome mother and grandmother, a beloved, special aunt and friend to many, with a joyous spirit, and a great ability to make others smile and laugh.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 5 – 6:30 PM with Rosary to follow at McGilley Funeral Home, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, 26th & Madison, KCMO at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, KCMO.
