Tama Shreve Putthoff passed away extremely peacefully on November 15, 2025 after a brief bout with cancer. Tama was born in 1957, one week before Christmas, and spent her first ten years in Amity, MO. After her father’s passing, Tama grew up in Maysville, MO, attending high school there. Tama went to UMKC before beginning her business profession. Her career is highlighted by 25 years with Blue Cross Blue Shield, concluding as a Vice President and corporate officer.
In 1982 she married Ron Putthoff and blessed his life for 43 years. Together they traveled and saw all parts of the country. Most of the miles were by car, because Tama thought you missed too much by flying. They made an effort to visit as many National Parks as possible. They had just returned from western Montana where they visited the headwaters of the Missouri River. Tama once said that she needed to travel at a soul level. At the end, she felt her soul satiated.
Tama was an award-winning quilter, producing beautiful pieces of art out of cloth. Her family will be blessed by the warmth of her creations for years. For her nieces and nephews, Tama was a fierce supporter, loving confidant, and trusted advisor who will be deeply loved and cherished. Truly an emissary of kindness and diplomacy in the family, she was beloved by all.
Tama is survived by her husband Ron, her sister Marlen Edward, her sisters-in-law Denise Gulledge, Connie Mann, Karen Donahoe, Linda Putthoff, and Joan Putthoff. She was blessed with 33 nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Tama is held in light by her loving family. She requested a private service and the family is honoring her wishes.
