She moved to the United States in the year 2000 to be closer to her family. It was also during that year that she met her future husband. Tetyana was a very strong-willed person and always conquered any challenge that came her way. One of the toughest challenges that she encountered in her life was her cancer diagnosis. In 2019 she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She courageously fought the cancer for six years. She went through multiple rounds of chemo and two bone marrow transplants. One transplant was from her own bone marrow and another transplant was from a donor. Her second treatment was successful; she was able to beat the cancer.
