Thelma “Ruth” Goldsberry, 96, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Overland Park, passed away April 11, 2018. Visitation 10AM Tues., Apr. 17, at Gregory Hills Church of God Holiness, 7020 James A Reed, with funeral 11AM. Burial at Floral Hills.
Ruth was born December 29, 1921, in Gentry, Arkansas. She lived on the farm there until 1934 when her family moved to Kansas City. She graduated from Central High School. She married Raymond Goldsberry, and they lived in Kansas City and Overland Park. She worked at Sears Roebuck for a longtime, first on the Plaza then in Overland Park until her retirement in the 1980’s. Ruth and Raymond loved to travel, visiting missionary friends in Jamaica, Korea, and England. Ruth was a great woman of faith. She attended the Church of God Holiness in Overland Park and Kansas City. Her favorite gospel singers were the Blackwood Brothers and the Statesmen Quartet. She also enjoyed listening to Jake Hess. She is remembered from singing hymns all of the time, especially at the nursing home where she stayed.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Harvey Edward & Susan Z. Gann; sisters Faye Roney & Cletha Maher; brothers Carl, Ray, and Bill Gann; husband Raymond Goldsberry; and son Gaylen Goldsberry.
