

Theodore Leo, “Ted” Olvis Jr., age 90, formerly of Kansas City passed away on December 25, 2016 in Sheridan, Wyoming. Ted is a veteran of the Korean War, during which he served as a Corporal for the United States Army. He was born in Beverly to Theodore and Mary Olvis on April 22, 1926. He went on to become the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds for the Raytown School District, and later became a valued member of the credit committee for the Raytown Teachers Credit Union. Ted had many incredible talents, including his gift for playing the piano and his uncanny ability to build and fix electronics. In 1950 Ted married the love of his life Helen, with whom he had two children, Karen and Kathy. He was a devoted family man who always made sure his family was loved and well taken care of. A respected member of his community, Ted developed lifelong friendships and was always willing to lend a hand without question or expectation. He was a member of Central Bible Church, later Sherwood Bible Church and was a deacon there for many years. He loved the Lord and never was shy of expressing that to those he met. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mary Olvis, as well as his sister Mary Capp. His incredible legacy lives on in his sweetheart of 65 years Helen Olvis, daughter and son-in law Karen and Mark Fritz, daughter and son-in law Kathy and Dave Stuart, granddaughter Jamie Fritz, grandson Jacob Fritz and his wife Laura, as well as great-grandsons Max and Felix Fritz. Visitation and funeral services will begin at 9am at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Kansas City (7000 Blue Ridge Boulevard Kansas City, MO 64133) on Monday January 2, 2016. Pastor Leonard G Hale of Sherwood Bible Church will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made to City Union Mission in Kansas City, 1700 E 8th St, Kansas City, MO 64106.
