He was born on November 21st, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Dane & Joanne (Scott) Dexter, where he grew up with his loving and devoted family. Tom graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 1970.
Tom served families and local businesses as their financial advisor in the Kansas City area and nationwide for more than 40 years, retiring from RBC Wealth Management as a Vice President-Financial Advisor. He has also been interviewed for his professional opinion on multiple Kansas City TV Stations, including NBC and CBS.
He had a strong Faith and attended Calvary Baptist and later Emmanuel Baptist Church since early childhood. Tom enjoyed watching all sporting events including the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Tom loved sports so much that he also worked for the Kansas City Athletics, Royals and the Chiefs as an usher.
He was known to place bets on the Kentucky Derby, always winning in his mind. He was surrounded by a wonderful group of friends and was socially active providing hours of entertainment with his stories. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing guitar.
He is survived by his children, Ashleigh Smith (Chris) & Brynn Morris (James), grandson, Spencer Morris, brother, James Dexter, James's daughter's, Jamie and Jackie, sister, Cynthia Dexter and extended family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend services at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, May 28 with the funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South.
