

Thomas Edward Farnan, 83, Kansas City North, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2013 with his family at his side. The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 23rd at St. Patrick Catholic Church; burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 PM Tuesday at the Church where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM followed by sharing of memories and stories. Contributions are suggested to a fund in Tom’s memory at St. Patrick Parish.
Tom was born March 11, 1930 in Clyde, MO and grew up in Parnell, MO. He was a Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Tom lived in Kansas City since 1955 and in 1956 married Darlene Ellis. He was a 39 year employee of Sysco Foods, Inc., formerly Mid-Central Fish and Frozen Foods, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where he was very active in organizing various events including being founder of the St. Patrick Day Irish Fest. Tom was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Fr. Hager Council and American Legion Post of Parnell, MO. For many seasons he was a season ticket holder to the Kansas City Chiefs, tailgating at F-22. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Farnan; brothers, John, Leonard, Alfred; and sisters, Catherine, Irene and Dorothy.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Darlene; 4 children, Sheryl (Jay), Jennifer (Allen), Kathleen “Casey” (Michael), and Tom II; 2 sisters, Margaret New and Mary Rose Chaney; 6 grandchildren, Tanya, Madison, Alex, Maria, Victoria and Nick; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Darlene thanks her 4 children and their spouses, and grandchildren, as well as the staff of NorthCare Hospice and North Kansas City Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.
