A visitation is scheduled from 5:30-8:30 PM Tuesday, April 20th, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO 64119. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 21st at the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church, 7600 NW Barry Rd, Kansas City, MO 64153. Burial, with military honors, will follow at 12:30 PM Wednesday, at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. In lieu of flowers, Tom says ‘Keep Your Money’, or if you prefer donations to NorthCare Hospice House (KCHospice.org). The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at the NorthCare facility for their compassionate care.
Tom was born February 13, 1973 to David Richard and Peggy Ann (Gimbel) Gust in Aurora, CO. He lived the majority of his early life in New Jersey and lived in Kansas City since 1995. In 1995, while attending a bowling class, he met Jen Wagner and they married February 17, 2001. They made their home in Kansas City with two beautiful daughters. Tom was employed since 2000 with AT&T. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves since 1991 and deployed two times to Iraq. He was a good soldier. Tom was a calming presence who could help you think through situations without drama. He was a good problem solver who was sought out by others. Tom was a hard worker, responsible and trustworthy. He was very handsome. Jen really liked his beard. Tom was a good daddy who loved his girls and they loved him. His passing has left a hole in our lives and we don’t know what we will do without him.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer; two daughters, Clara and Anna; his parents, David and Peggy Gust; a brother, Scott Gust and his wife, Jean and their daughter, Arabella; father-in-law, Gene Wagner; mother-in-law, Janice Harris; sisters-in-law, Lynn Wagner and Audra Hyer; two nephews, Devin Robertson and Owen Hyer.
