Kathy & Howard: I pray the past year has been healing and brought you God's peace. We often speak of that sweet boy at Hospice House. I hardly believe it has been a year. God Bless you and your sweet family.

Tommy had such a sweet disposition that and everyone at Camp Hope loved him.   He always had a smile and a hug and no matter what, he had a positive attitude.  We will greatly miss him.

Tommy was full of life and hope; I am so sorry that he has lost his battle with cancer. I hope that wonderful memories will comfort you and the other children. We at Helzberg feel fortunate that all of you and especially Tommy, were a part of our life and hope that our efforts gave him joy.

I have so many memories of Tommy. There is the first day we walked across the street to meet them when they moved into the neighborhood and of course, I was greeted with my first hug. Through the last several years there were many mornings that Tommy would ride to the bus stop with us. I still smile thinking of all the different conversations we would have in that short drive. I feel so blessed to have these memories. I am thankful for the friendship I have developed with Kathy and admire both her and Howard for the strength they have had during the last several years. I will miss Tommy, but feel comfort in the fact he is no longer in pain and that he is now our special guardian angel.

We had the pleasure of meeting Tommy a couple years ago when he was getting on the Camp Hope bus with our son, Cullen.  Right away, we knew we had met someone special.  Cullen has many great memories of camp with Tommy, and it's clear anyone that he met had a better day.  May God comfort you in these difficult days.

I still remember the first time I met Tommy, I was having one of those bad days and the hug he gave me made me instantly feel so loved.  I realized my bad day was nothing compared to the battle he was going through.  He is an example for everyone that a smile and a hug can make everything better.  Harris Family, thank you for sharing Tommy with me.  You are all in my prayers through this difficult time.

All of our hearts are heavy here at Helzberg. We loved getting to know Tommy-he was a loving young man. It was a blessing on all of us to spend time with him and the whole family. We will always remember the special times we had and be comforted by them.

Tommy when we first met you told me " I warn you I'm a hugger" and then you gave me a hug, I will always remember that moment. We shared a love for history albeit different eras. I hope the gift I gave you brought you some joy :) As we say in the Navy "Fair Winds And Following Seas" "Rest Your Oars Shipmate" I will never forget you buddy !!

Tommy was a very special person, he always brought joy to anyone who he came into contact with!  He will be missed.  Our thoughts and Prayers are with your family durning this time of need.

What an incredible young man! Tommy had so much to give and made an amazing impact in his time here.  Tommy also gave the best hugs and I feel he improved my life in the short time I knew him. Thank you for sharing Tommy with us.  My thought are with all of you.

Tommy was an amazing kid with many talents. My mom and I will remember his wonderful smiles and the loveable hugs he gave. The cafe ladies at Raytown South Middle School will miss him very much! Howard and Kathy, you are great parents and we all know that Tommy loves you very much!

The Heartland Santa Group has been following Tommy ever since we heard of his Time Travel trip.  I know that all of us are heartbroken at his passing.  The good news is that he will be waiting for all of us when we too take that the trip we all must do.

It will be the little things that I will remember about Tommy - his smile that could light up a room, his laughter that filled our office building during his visits, and his generous heartfelt hugs he was ever-so-willing to share!  I am thankful for the opportunity to meet and get to know Tommy over this past year.  Harris family - you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Tommy's Camp Hope friends are SO thankful to have had the opportunity to get to know and love this sweet young man over the past several summers!  It seems that EVERYone at camp has a story about a timely hug Tommy gave them!

Howard and Kathy and family,  You all have been an inspiration to us as we saw how courageously Tommy fought his cancer and you were with him every step of the way.  Now he is in the loving arms of Jesus and we are asking Jesus to give you peace and comfort through these difficult days.

Tommy:

You fought your cancer strong and smart and became a role model for me.  I will miss you much as well as our talks during our times together.

I met Howard at HOAC offices the morning that Tommy passed away.  I was struck by the strength of faith in God that Howard reflected; and, I appreciate his sharing Tommy's strong belief in the goodness of God.  Tommy has been in my prayers, as has his family.
