

Thomas was born on September 14, 1940, in Claycomo, Missouri, to Thomas Russell Shockey and Hazel Winfield Shockey of Randolph, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Wilma Dickey, Norma Bailey and Drake Emery.
A lifelong Missourian, Thomas spent most of his years in Randolph, followed by 39 years in Ballard and his final seven years in Peculiar. On September 30, 1978, he married Carolyn, and together they where married 48 years.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Carolyn Shockey; members of their blended family including Jona Jones, Jim Emery, Carolyn Stenrod, Tommy Shockey, Jon Emery, and Amber Kasper; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren, with another great-great-grandchild on the way.
After 30 years of dedicated service, Thomas retired from General Motors. Then he work for Jones Iron a Metal for 7 years. Then he ran the Road Grader for 7 years for the Township of Ballard.
He was known for his strong work ethic and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed music, farming, gardening, and spending time at home. Whether working the land, tending his garden, or listening to his favorite songs, Thomas found satisfaction in a simple and independent way of life.
Those who knew Thomas will remember his steady presence and the life he built through hard work and perseverance. The memories shared with him will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Thomas will be deeply missed
Visitation will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133, US, on June 25, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery at the same address on June 25, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
