Capt. Timothy Michael Scholl, USAF, was born August 11, 1942 in Kansas City, MO, to John Raymond Scholl and Patricia Conway. He was the oldest of 4 boys, and is survived by his youngest brother, Brian (Gloria). He grew up both in Kansas City and Independence, MO and Dallas, TX. He graduated from Lillis High school in 1960 and attended Donnelly College before joining the Reserve Officer Training Corps and transferring to SMU.
After graduating from Southern Methodist University R.O.T.C. in Dallas, TX, in 1966, Tim was commissioned as an officer for the Air Force. There he met, and subsequently married a military nurse, Susan Deborah Kelly in 1967. He shared over 50 years of marriage with her until her death in 2019. Tim and Susan had two children who survive him: his son Bill (Bethanne) their children: Sebastian (Raely), Donan, Simon, Julian, Matilda, Nellie, and Fiona; and his daughter Deirdre Scholl Lickona (Matthew) their children: Finian (Anna), Isaac, Olivia, Elijah, Therese, Winifred, and Mira.
Tim was a decorated airman, awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star and a Purple Heart for missions during the Vietnam conflict. After recovering from emergency brain surgery in 1974, Tim retired from the Air Force and moved his family back to Kansas City, MO. With his official military career now over, Tim found other ways to serve by volunteering with the Disabled American Veterans, where he served tirelessly in various and sundry positions, including chapter commander, all to help his fellow veterans live with dignity after injury by accompanying them as they applied for V.A. benefits.
The Captain lived more than 50 years in Brookside surrounded by wonderful neighbors. He was an active parishioner at Visitation Parish, known for his hospitality as an usher. He then moved in his final year of life to St. Anthony’s Senior Living. He was gregarious, generous, never met a stranger he did not like, and was always quick with a joke or a good story.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
