Valla was born on December 26, 1953 in Joplin, Missouri to Arthur (Bill) and Joy Hearn. She married Dan Jones on July 29th, 1978 in Overland Park, Kansas.
Surviving family members include: husband, Dan Jones; son, Daniel Jones and wife Rene; daughters Dana Naughton and husband Jeff and Dell Jacob and husband Dustin; grandchildren, Avery and Ella Jacob, Connor and Colin Naughton, and Mia and Phillip Porter; and brother, Vance Hearn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Vic Hearn.
Valla worked as a Preschool Teacher at St. John’s United Methodist in Kansas City, Missouri for nearly 30 years. During her time at St. John’s, Valla made many lifelong friends.
Valla was well known for her sense of humor and quick wit. She loved her family and friends dearly and so many loved her in return. She had a passion for dogs and never met a dog she didn’t like. Her love for life will be carried on by those she left behind.
A Celebration of Valla's Life will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A reception will be held following the Celebration of Life at the home of Jeff and Dana Naughton.
