He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and Papa.
Floyd was a graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Civil Engineering and spent more than 35 years with Black & Veatch. He married the love of his life, Sandra Hill, on August 5, 1967, and together they celebrated over 58 years of marriage.
A proud American, Floyd served as a construction engineer in Vietnam in 1966. For his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Army Commendation Medal.
Floyd’s greatest joy was his family. He and Sandy were blessed to live next door to their daughter Jenny and son-in-law Chris, a gift that allowed Floyd to watch his grandchildren, Ava and Aiden, grow up.
Holidays were sacred for the Danners. Christmas, Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July, and Easter were spent together, with Floyd and Sandy welcoming extended family and friends to their table. These gatherings were filled with games, stories, laughter, and the kind of love that becomes a family’s legacy.
Floyd was also deeply connected to his community and his Church, volunteering with multiple committees. A member of the Johnson County Mustang Club, he loved driving his Mustang in the Stilwell Fourth of July parade, much to the delight of his grandkids who sometimes rode with him. He was especially passionate about honoring veterans and attended the local high school’s annual Veterans Day Assembly every year, an event organized by his daughter Jenny. His presence there meant the world to her.
He loved the Kansas City Chiefs, the Royals, a good round of golf, a competitive game of Bridge or Poker, and helping others whenever he could. Above all, Floyd will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Floyd is survived by his wife Sandy; sister Sandra; son Steven; daughter Jenny; and grandchildren Ava and Aiden.
