passed away Friday, January 17, 2020, 7:35 P.M. at St Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, MO. He was born March 12, 1933 in Chillicothe, MO to Abraham "Dewey" and Roberta (Roney) Runyon.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Helen Albertson, Patsy Lee Wood and Lucille Maxine and his brother, Jack Runyon. He was also was preceded by his first wife of 34 yrs., Dolores
"Dee" (Smith) Runyon, the mother of Timothy "Tim" L. Runyon, and his second wife of 29 years, Barbra J.
Runyon.
Roy graduated from Chillicothe High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 and was a proud Korean War Veteran. He received a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, 1 Overseas Bar, and a Good Conduct Medal.
Roy worked as a truck driver for Clarence Staton in Chillicothe, MO. He then moved to Sibley, MO where he worked as a Fuel Supervisor for the power plant retiring after 39 years, in 1994.
His hobbies included working with stained glass; he made beautiful angels and
kaleidoscope. He love writing stories and poems; he even had one published in the
newspaper. Roy loved to shoot pool with the family; he got to be known as "The Blaster".
Roy is survived by his son, Tim L. Runyon and Tim's wife Barbara J. of the home; five
grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and other loving family and friends.
He was loved by many...
He will be missed by all...
