

Victor C. “Vic” Garcia, 85, of Prairie Village, Kansas, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at St. Pius X Church, 55th and Woodson, Mission, Kansas. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the church, where the rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m.
Vic was born on March 6, 1922 in Omaha, Nebraska to Nanagorcia and Jesus (Sanchez) Garcia. He worked 45 years for the Santa Fe Railroad and retired in 1983 as Paymaster. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW, the Dwight Cowles Post; he as a 4Th Degree Knight and the Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Miege Council #843; a long time member of the Church and the church Men’s Club. In addition to his parents, Vic was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Catherine, on February 9, 2005, daughter, Judy, in May, 1977, and three brothers and five sisters. Vic is survived by his son, Michael Garcia and wife, Diana, of Overland Park, KS; two daughters, Patricia Zweigel and husband, Bill, of Roeland Park, KS and Vicki Bays and husband, Bill, of Emporia, KS; sister, Mary Garcia of Kansas City, KS; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
