Vincent P. Alvarez

Vincent P. “Blue Eyes” Alvarez, 59 of Kansas City, Missouri died on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at KU Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The family request contributions to the United Way, 1080 Washington Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64105.

Vincent was born on January 22, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Frank M. and Bertha (Medina) Alvarez. He worked 32 years for Hallmark Cards, starting as a janitor, and retiring in 2002 at an embossing press operator. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Marina Alvarez and Olivia Ghazi of Topeka, Kansas and Jessica Alvarez of Kansas City, Missouri; six brothers, Lawrence E. Alvarez (Mary), Fenton, Missouri, Julian M. Alvarez (Rose Ann), Grandview, Missouri, Anthony F. Alvarez (Yolanda), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Joseph M. Alvarez (Theresa), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, John R. Alvarez (Rebecca), Kansas City, Missouri, Joseph E. Madrigal (Juanita), Overland Park, Kansas; sister Mary E. Alejandre-Riggs (Anthony) Kansas City, Missouri and four grandchildren, Nasim, Zahra, Alexcia and Aurora.
