Virginia Louise Barker Lee was born on July 23, 1913 to the loving parents Bishop Virgil Moses Barker and Mother Ruth Imagene Barker. Jennie, as she was called, was the second of nine children born to the founding family of Barker Temple Church of God in Christ. In her early years she became a constant companion to her mother and father and worked tirelessly with them in establishing the foundation of Barker Temple. She was educated in Kansas City, Missouri public school system and graduated from Lincoln High School.
As a young woman she moved to Los Angeles, California and was united in marriage to Robert Harrison Lee in 1949. She united with the Emanuel Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop S. M. Crouch, where she faithfully served on the Mother Board #2. Upon returning to Kansas City in 1981, to care for her ailing mother, she reunited with Barker Temple under the leadership of Bishop E. Harris Moore, and Bishop John H. Johnson, and continued to serve on the Mother Board. Jennie was a true child of God and lived her life in service to Him.
