

Virginia Fox Solas, 84, Kansas City, MO, died Sunday, February 17, 2013. She was born in Paris, Arkansas on April 23, 1928. She attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Kansas City. Virginia attended Mount Saint Scholastica College (now Benedictine), in Atchison, Kansas and received a B.S. in Biology. She worked as a Medical Technologist for many years at St. Joseph Hospital. She married John “Jack” Solas in 1978, he preceded her in death in 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank James and Laura Mary Etzkorn Fox; her brothers and sisters, Eugene Fox (Helen), Ann Fox Bailey (Norman), Margie Fox Jack (Ed), John Fox (Elizabeth), Mary Jane Fox Fitzsimmons (Fred), Frank Fox, Jr., and Lawrence Fox; her nephews, Norman Bailey, Jr. and Michael Solas; her brother-in-law, Vic Solas, sister-in-law and best friend, Dorothy Solas Lidster and her husband Bill Lidster; and her Gordon Setter, Maggie. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Evelyn Fox Berry (Glenn), sisters-in-law, Lita Solas Edwards and her husband, Pat Edwards, Rosemary Solas O’Connor and her nieces and nephews, Barbara Fox Waller, James Fox; Freddie Bailey Noll, Michael Bailey (Dana), Michele Bailey Haynes; Eddie Jack (Roe), Susie Jack Schwertfager (Herman); Barbara Fox Robinson (Gary), Harriet Fox Jones (Mike), Celeste Fox; Claire Fitzsimmons, Laura Fitzsimmons Keeling, Sarah Fitzsimmons Gier (Joe), Anne Fitzsimmons, Peter Fitzsimmons (Martha), Megan Fitzsimmons Linhares (Bob), Maureen Fitzsimmons and Tricia Fitzsimmons; Larry Fox (Vivian), Tracy Fox Schluterman (Gary), Frank Fox (Lisa), Kelly Fox Huber (Randy), Jason Fox, Lynn Fox Orr (Dean); Peggy Lidster: Mike Edwards, Lee Ann Edwards Powell, Susan Edwards, Amy Edwards DuCharme: Stephanie Solas Ballentine, Dennis Solas: Jack O’Connor, Bill O’Connor, Mark O’Connor; and many great nieces and great nephews.
Virginia, or Dee as she was affectionately referred to by many of her nieces and nephews, loved cats, dogs, gardening, flowers, fishing, prairie chicken hunting, reading, card playing and working crossword puzzles.
The family would like to thank the family at The Sweet Life at Brookdale Place, Clare Bridge Alzheimers and Dementia Care and ISC Hospice, especially Mary, for all the encouragement and loving care they gave Dee over the last 3 years.
A Prayer Service will be held on Friday,March 1, from 5-7 p.m., with Rosary at 6:30 p.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO, 816-942-6180.
