Virginia Swanson

VIRGINIA LOUISE (JOHNSON) SWANSON, age 89, of Overland Park, KS, went peacefully into the arms of her Savior on December 4, 2020. Virginia was born in Cadillac, Michigan, and met her husband, Rev. John L. Swanson (d. 2012) there. Virginia followed John to Bethel College St. Paul, MN, and served with him in ministry at Baptist General Conference (now Converge) churches in Forest City, IA, Alexandria, MN, Newhall, CA, and Anoka, MN. Viriginia spent the last 8 years near her daughter Janis’ family in Overland Park, KS. Although in her last years she suffered with Alzheimer’s, her constant in life was the love of her Savior and her family. She would often quote scripture and sing hymns. As she was in her last days, scripture read and hymns sung to her brought peace. Virginia is survived by her children Ken (Susan), WA, Linda (Paul) Dosser, MN, Janis (Michael) Hedstrom, KS, and Jonelle (Todd) Johnson, CO. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery, Shawnee, KS, on Dec. 9.
